We at Highland Discos have been entertaining the people of the Highlands for many years and welcome new clients everyday.
My name is Clive Mackay and I have been DJing since 1981, many will remember me from the various party nights and in the local clubs Checkers, Jolly Jesters, Natalies, Mr Max etc. I either work on my own or I will take my wife Aileen to the large functions to assist in the setup and who is the pro when looking for all the requests which lets me get on with the show. Myself and my daughter Rachael run our kids discos parties, Rachael is up front most of the time performing dances with the children, favourites like the music man, big fish little fish, the court of king caractucus etc. We are not a multi disco supplier who splits up there equipment amongst all its dj's and ends up with only a car boot full of pitifull equipment and a young person who has not always got the experience requied to read the audience properly. We arrive aprox 1 hour 30 minutes before the function to unload and set up the equipment. Our setup has changed since 2008 to a much more modern high rise stand with a built in goalpost to hang the various light effects on. A brand new state of the art L.E.D. multi coloured deck skirt which hides cables. To finish on the front there is a multi coloured 4 foot moving message signage which we can preload details and requests from the booking party. We have a wide selection of lights and effects including smoke machines and mirror balls etc.. The disco size depends on premesis, somewhere between 2.5 meters to 5 meters of floor space and requires two separate double sockets.
The disco consists of a selection of up to 6 front light screens, a static name box or our famous moving message signage. We have a selection of stage light spots and flood lights, over 20 different dmx and inteligent moving light effects. To add different moods we can add ultra violet, mirror balls, ropelights, strobes and smoke machines. For sound we have 3 separate flight cases, 2 of which are always taken to every function for complete peace of mind incase of breakdown, ask how many others do this. Our sound is from our antishake Numark players and 2k amplifiers and we always prefer Peavy speakers to other cheaper makes. We do not use Laptops as we are long time served DJ's and like to get involved more with the music and with the audience. Laptops tend to get the dj sitting watching a computer screen and leads to less talking and reacting to the audience. We have a client care policy which means we will leave the premises as we found them on arrival. Our equipment is carried in a large towavan trailer, not in the boot of a Ford Fiesta like some around.
Disco prices depend on various things such as distance to travel, type of function, how long function will be on for and if we are required to climb up stairs. We are always monitoring other companies and we feel for the high quality service we provide ahead of most others our prices are in the correct price bracket. We travel up to 70 miles from our base in Alness in all directions, out with this distance may be available on request.
