As the Highlands leading mobile disco we understand the importance of making sure every part of your evening reception goes like clockwork. We hope the following information is helpful to you.

Please remember every wedding reception is different and this page is a simply a guide. We carry 1000s of tracks to every disco which span the last 6 decades, so our music can be as varied as the guests attending .

All audiences are different and a lot of what we play will depend on reading the audience and watching the reaction on the dancefloor. No DJ no matter how experienced can predict an exact play list in advance of your function because musical taste is as individual to each person as is their taste in food, drink, fashion etc.

It is tradition at the wedding reception for the bride and groom to have the first dance as this signals the start of the actual disco and entertainment. If you have invited evening guests who may not have attended the wedding ceremony, then it is often advisable to leave the first dance untill the majority of the guests have arrive. We would play suitable low level back ground music in this period.

The bride and groom would choose the first and second songs in advance using our booking form. The first song is generally a slow love song with some special phrases and words. We will pre-arrange with you how we will introduce you on to the dance floor. The second song is usually played and dedicated to the parents of the bride and groom and there families. The second song can be as important as the first as it indicates to the friends and families to join in. It is vital the bride and groom stay up for the second dance, if not all your guests tend to follow them to there own seats. The second track is not obligatory but is adviced. If a break is requested during the buffet we will play background music usually for around 20 - 30 minutes. The older guests will appreciate the break for a catch up with the family gossip.

When deciding on the duration of your function, it is advisable to bear in mind that you and some of your guests may have been in attendance since the wedding ceremony in the early afternoon and so this should be taken into consideration when deciding the finish time. Often older guests or those with young children will usually leave before the end of the evening. So consider whether a 1am finish would be appropriate for the majority of the guests or whether a midnight or 12.30 finish would be more acceptable. We would decide with you on the finishing style of the disco, for example a big party finish, Proclaimers, Loch Lomand, Auld Lang Syne and the like, or a couple of slow songs to wind the evening up.  Sometimes the bride and groom want to leave to go on there honeymoon towards the end of the night, we would then generally read the crowd and small numbers that are left and play the appropriate music until finish. It is not unusual for the evening to finish early, usally depend on the stamina of the guests and the flow of drinks. Don't worry if after the first few songs your guest sit down, this can happen and at this stage and they will frequent the dance floor again in there own time as the drinks flow.

At the wedding reception, or indeed any function with a mixed and aged audience we usually try to avoid anything too specialised or genre's such as heavy metal, rap, trance, hardcore and non commercial dance music unless requested by the client, where they believe that it would be appropriate for there guests. We do tailor the music to the age range of the audience. Generally at the beginning of the night a DJ will test the audience by playing a bit of from all decades to access the guests reaction and will then play by the best reactions to the songs played. We do appreciate some people have some great tastes in music from there home musis collection but as a DJ we have to decide if the song is appropriate for the evening, it might get your foot tapping on the Hi Fi or I pod at home but might clear the dance floor at your function. We try to balance what we play and try to please all at the function. We can only guarantee the songs on the night if they are requested on our booking form in advance.
